Papers, 1837-1841.

Journals, letter books, and literary volumes kept by Marion Corbett while residing in Washington, D.C. and New York City during 1837-1841 while gathering material for new books. Most of her time was spent in Washington. Her journal entries, some quite lengthy, include comments on the many prominent persons whom she met, especially William Cullen Bryant, as well as places visited, impressions, and local customs. Similar topics are covered in her letter books which also contain some loose correspondence. The literary volumes include anecdotes, poetry, and other writings.
